Front Garden with New Yorkstone in Walthamstow Village

Plants are undeniably my true joy when it comes to designing and building gardens, but I also absolutely love building and working with natural products be they native English wood to create furniture and decking, wonderful local stone for drystone walling, and Yorkstone for paving. In this front garden in Walthamstow Village, I transformed an old, tired patio and steps into a sleek and beautiful area that will stand the test of time. I first started by taking out the worn out Terrazzo paving, fixing the uneven step foundations and installing a new base for the new patio. The walls were rendered and Victorian tiling was added as an ode to the property's past. Finally the new Yorkstone patio and steps installed along with a new bin store and small planting bed. Any old property throws up slight curveballs, in this one it was the very unsymmetrical walls and levels of the steps that required careful treatment whilst still keeping the original heritage of the property's exterior intact.
